Gpixel Expands Portfolio for Intelligent Traffic Systems with GMAX3413; a wide aspect ratio 12.7MP 4/3” NIR-enhanced Global Shutter Image Sensor
2023.10.16
ReleaseAugust 17th , 2023, – Gpixel which Kanematsu Futuretech Solutions (KFT) is the distributor in Japan, announces the GMAX3413, which joins the previously announced GMAX3809 in extending the GMAX sensor family into ITS and logistics applications. In close collaboration with industry experts and leveraging its expertise and leading position in industrial imaging, Gpixel optimized the well-known GMAX product architecture with dedicated ITS features such as enhanced NIR response, generous pixel size, LED flicker mitigation and multiple region HDR modes. GMAX3413 is second in a series of GMAX products with optimized product features for ITS applications.
GMAX3413 provides 5900(H) x 2160(V) (12.7 MP) resolution into a 4/3” image format with low noise, charge domain Global Shutter pixels running at 32 fps at 12-bit ADC resolution per pixel. GMAX3413’s 3.4 um pixel achieves 71.4 dB linear dynamic range accomplished by building upon existing GMAX product pixel know how, but further optimized for the envisaged applications. The advanced pixel technology brings a peak QE of 62.7% at 540 nm, a Parasitic Light Sensitivity of -92dB and excellent angular response (> 15° @ 80% response).
The GMAX3413 image sensor comes standard in a NIR-enhanced version using Gpixel’s Red Fox technology, offering the ultimate balance between NIR sensitivity and MTF. GMAX3413 achieves a QE of more than 30% at 850 nm and 14% at 940 nm. In comparison, based on publicly available EMVA test data, competitive image sensors only offer a QE of 15% at 850 nm. This equates to a significant 100% improvement in QE performance.
“The large pixel size, wide field of view, and excellent NIR response are sure to help GMAX3413 find its way into a variety of applications, including but not limited to its intended target in traffic monitoring and logistics applications for instance,” says Wim Wuyts, Gpixel’s Chief Commercial Officer. “We are excited to be able to offer our customers a tailored but versatile product, the wide aspect ratio offering an optimal coverage of the field of view of interest in these applications”.
GMAX3413 delivers 32 fps with 8 pairs of sub-LVDS channels each running at 960 Mbps resulting in a maximum data rate of 4.1 Gbps. On-chip functions, such as channel multiplexing, vertical ROI with frame rate increase, and multiple region HDR are available and programmable through SPI or I2C interface.
GMAX3413 is housed in a 163-pin ceramic LGA package with outer dimensions of 32.7 mm x 17.9 mm. The LGA pad pattern is optimized for reliable solder connections and the sensor assembly includes a double side AR coated cover glass lid.
