TransSiP PI Noise Reduction Technology

Shrinkage of semiconductor geometries and operating voltages make LSI and SoC devices much more vulnerable to power supply noise and impact system efficiency, worsening with increasing data and high-power activities.  Traditional noise filtering methods are ineffective, occupy board space, add complexity to the design process and time.  In addition, the increasing complexity of power distribution networks (PDN) can cause LSI to malfunction and generate EMI.

TransSIP PI products changed all that. Using a novel circuit topology that actively identifies and corrects a newfound noise in real-time: Switching Noise Jitter, or SNJ, results in a clean and stable power signal.  This allows for the development of systems with significantly reduced noise footprints.  TransSIP PI is an essential breakthrough in the field of power management and has the potential to revolutionize the way DC-DC power conversion is performed.

While TransSiP PI noise reduction technology has proven to be a key enabler in completely autonomous systems that achieved ultra-high system efficiency and extraordinary supply bias quality, it is being increasingly adopted in new areas such as Wireless, Homeland Security, Ultra-Wideband, M2M, Data Storage, Computing, and Biomedical Monitoring.

What is SNJ (Switching Noise Jitter) and why should we care?

In 2016, TransSiP used a new technique called spectral histogram analysis to analyze noise in the time domain.  That was the first time to unveil a previously unrecognized time-domain form of noise found on top of frequency-domain phenomena such as power spectral density, ripple, and harmonics of a switching mode power supply.  The discovery was coined Switching Noise Jitter, or SNJ, by TransSiP and featured in a case study by Tektronix. It has proven that SNJ is the dominant noise detrimental to signal integrity during weak signal conditions.

Elimination of SNJ results in a clean and stable power signal and enables systems to reach exciting levels of signal clarity, sensitivity, accuracy, reliability, and most importantly – User Experience.  For instance, it has been proven GPS systems improved ten times in positioning accuracy and ran 25% faster in high-power activities.  So as with biomedical monitors, optical heart rate monitors became as accurate as a chest strap and fulfilled the basic requirements for clinical accuracy.  It is essential for enabling the actual capability and performance of modern digital systems.

World’s First Device Level Power Integrity(PI) Solutions

Harmony and Symphony  are the first device-level power integrity solution.
They enables highest system’s performance in a compact and complex product.

Harmony PI Filter

Harmony is an extremely wideband filter that it eliminates SNJ at the same time.
Its minimal ampacity is 1A 6VDC, the highest is 5A 6VDC.

Symphony DC-DC PI Chipset (TSB2 Chipset)

Symphony TSB2 Chipset comprises of two chips. The TSB2 is a PFM-only DC-DC controller, and the HX1 is the SNJ conditioner that it best matches to the TSB22. Max current is 150mA. It has been proved that a supposedly noisy PFM-only DC-DC enables the best system performance.

Symphony DC-DC PI Chipset (TSB A1 Single Package)

Symphony TSB A1 is the latest product, (samples available in 2023 Q1)
This is the Symphony TSB series which combines the TSB2 Controller and SNJ Conditioner in a single package.

Product lineup which supports the total PI solution
